Exam missions

How an exam becomes your route of short steps, why it changes with how you're doing, how to continue on another device and what happens when you conquer a mission.

When your family uploads an exam syllabus, a mission appears: the exam split into small dated steps. Study the topic, do a challenge, review, and a final boss. You go step by step; the app knows how much is left.

Missions: the next playable step on top; each step with its type, status and reward.

Types of step

  1. 1Study: a session with Alaric on that topic. Counts if it lasts at least 5 minutes with conversation.
  2. 2Challenge: a quiz on the topic. Counts when completed.
  3. 3Review: a short challenge on what you've seen.
  4. 4Final boss: the battle against Nox with the whole syllabus.

Your route: one step at a time

Along with the mission, the app builds your route to the exam: every topic in steps of 3 to 8 minutes. Your Home shows only today's, with “Your route · subject” on top, why and how long it takes. “Step 4 of 32” tells you where you are.

  1. 1Learn the topic with Alaric: a short session; it counts as soon as you've really talked (at least two messages).
  2. 2Practice it: a round of 3 questions, even if the topic is new.
  3. 3Review: the same topic a few days later, so it doesn't fade.
  4. 4Mock exam: a challenge with every topic, the day before the exam.

Today's steps are done: the route offers tomorrow's, in case they want to keep going. If not, done for today.

The route changes with you

It's not a fixed plan. If you already master a topic, its steps are skipped and it only comes back as a review. If a practice comes out weak, a short explanation comes first. If you're answering very fast and missing, the next step says “No rush” and is shorter. If you tend to get distracted early, steps fit your focus time.

If you skip a day, nothing is “late”: the route spreads what's left over the days remaining and, when you're back, gives you the smallest step first. When you finish today's steps, it offers one of tomorrow's if you want to keep going; if not, you're done for today.

Continue on another device

If you start a step on the computer and then open the app on your phone, your Home says “You started it on your computer 12 min ago · continue here”, and “Pick up where I left off” takes you to the same session or round, with what you'd already done.

Conquering the mission

When you complete the last step, the mission is conquered, you earn the XP of all the steps and your family gets an e-mail. Nox, for his part, is left with nothing to say.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to follow the route no matter what?
No. “Something else” is always there, and everything you study in that subject counts: if you practice a topic on your own, the route step is done anyway.
What happens if I miss several days?
Nothing bad. The route re-plans itself to reach the exam and starts with the shortest step. You won't see a to-do list.
